TODAY'S STAGE: STAGE SIX WIN REPORT: RICCARDO RICCO CLIMBS TO VICTORY Road Bike Action July 10, 2008

The 195.5 kilometer Stage Six began in Aigurande and ended in Super-Besse and saw three French riders (same teams as yesterday) off the front for most of the day but they got swallowed up by the charging peloton before the final climb to the finish. Riccardo Ricco attacked while Valverde’s teammates zigzagged up the climb and held on for the win.
When you hear Italy's Riccardo Ricco of Saunier-Duval-Scott in post race interviews, he can come off as a bit edgy. He’s young, talented and determined and today he took the greatest riders in the world for a ride on the mountain top finish of Stage 6 of the Tour De France. And he did it with attitude. Arms raised in the air with the look of pure confidence on his face, Ricco is a rider to watch and considered by many to be the heir to Marco Pantani’s racing heritage.
