CCSD offers numerous cycling tours and camps in the U.S., in addition to Belgium, Italy, France, and England.
The cycling touring company that has made a name for themselves by offering pro-style, weeklong training camps in Southern California has now added the “
Cycling Greats” tour September 4th to 14th. Participants will get to experience some of France’s most esteemed climbs, notably the Galibier, Telegraph, and Alpe d’Huez, as well as many other lesser known, but equally amazing, ‘cols’ around the Rhône-Alpes region. Things become even better when you head over to Provence, where you'll ride the breathtaking Gorges de la Nesque and tackle the infamous and unforgiving Mont Ventoux. And if you want, you can attempt to join the elite members of the Club du Cinglés (literally translated: the ‘club of the crazies’). This club is limited to those riders who reached the summit of Mont Ventoux three times in one day by each of the three road routes that ascend the mountain.
But it’s not only about the bike; so if your partner isn't as involved with cycling as you are, don't think that these trips aren't for you. The folks at CCSD designed the trips to have special itineraries for the non-cyclist significant other. Knowing that there will be hiking in the Savoie national parks, a French cooking class, an afternoon at the Spa in Aix Les Bains, wine and lavender tours, and visits to the historical sites and buildings of each region should keep everyone happy. There's also enough downtime to relax in cafes, explore the towns and tourist sites, and just generally soak up the culture and cuisine of France together as well.
CCSD owner Robert Panzera also adds some additional value to the trip, with personal coaching to help each rider be at their best to tackle the monster climbs of France. Panzera is a USAC certified coach with a Master's degree in kinesiology-biomechanics and the author of Cycling Fast, a comprehensive guide to training and racing up to your potential.
This is undeniably a first class experience. Although you'll definitely be riding hard, you certainly won't be roughing it in terms of accommodations, dining and support both before and during the trip. As part of the package, you'll stay in a 4-star converted châteaux, dine on Lake Annecy, receive coaching before and during the trip, have a pre trip comprehensive guide and generally relax while CCSD does all the hard work for you. If you just can't get away from the old 9-5 for the full 11 days, there is a 7 day trip option as well.
