STAGE 7: SASTRE LAYING LOW, FOR NOW
July 11, 2008

CSC-Saxo Bank's Carlos Sastre lost 1' to Cadel Evans in the Stage Four TT and another 6" Thursday at Super Besse to the Australian. Sastre got caught out in the headwind on the ascent, but is looking ahead to Sunday's 224km Stage Nine to Bagneres de Bigorre.

The likeable Spaniard explained "At the end of the stage, everyone was watching and wondering who was going to take control and try to make the race even harder." "We saw a strong Caisse d'Epargne team working for Valverde. There was quite a bit of headwind and that made it a bit more difficult. But personally, I'm feeling good. "I'm managing to easily stay in front and now I'm waiting for the harder mountain stages in the Pyrenees, which suit me better." Sastre is now 12th overall, 1'34" behind Maillot Jaune Kim Kirchen.
