Being There: EuroBike 2015
Oh boy, I’m sitting on a veranda outside the media room overlooking the famous EuroBike fashion show and the hall is pumping with (super) loud Euro pop music with a stage full of Lycra-clad dancers doing their best to entertain the troops. It’s a show, and as far as bike shows go there are none bigger than this one located in Friedrichshafen, Germany, on the shores of Lake Constance. Wait…”Eye of the Tiger“!?
The man, the myth, the legend…one of the first things we saw inside the show was Ernesto Colnago making things happen in his booth….at 83 years old, he remains the Patron!
Great to see Ritte representin’ SoCal among all the Euro brands.
Canyon was happy to how ahead of the curve they were by showing-off a fully disc braked road bike circa 2006.
Not just wave rotors (to off-set brake pull on the steering) of their own design, but dual front rotors with Magura calipers.
Some nine years later here’s the production version…the Canyon CF SLX Disc. BTW, is it just me or could the Shimano rotors use some serious beautifying?!
Speaking of disc brakes, who’d have thunk they would ever see a wall (or two!) of Pinarello bikes running with disc brakes. No really, it’s coming!
Trust me on this if you own a Pinarello F8 your bottom bracket shell will not be built-out (to prevent chain suck) like this one on Chris Froome’s TdF winning bike.
Bradley Wiggin’s hour record holder was also on display at the Pinarello booth.
Don’t believe it – it’s a lie!
The helmet market continues to grow by leaps & bounds…Giro was here to remind everybody of their pioneer status in modern head protection…that all began with…
The ProLight which made its debut back in 1986. www.giro.com
