Six-time Green Jersey winner of the Tour de France and German legend Erik Zabel is set to kick things off at the Berkshire Cycling Classic on Sunday May 6th in Lenox Massachusetts, taking in 81 miles of the Southern Berkshire Mountains. The timed Gran Fondo is a
Sparta Cycling event, run by former professional cyclist and race promoter John Eustice. He is the man behind many of the most memorable races on the East Coast, including Univest Grand Prix, Tour of Connecticut, and Skyscraper Harlem Cycling Classic. His most memorable creation was the 2007 US Open of Cycling when Svein Tuft won the nationally televised race from Williamsburg to Richmond, Virginia during a blinding snowstorm.
Other than merely having the opportunity to test yourself in the timed event on the Berkshire Cycling Classic’s demanding parcours, Sparta Cycling has lined up not only Erik Zabel as a notable guest rider, but also many former National, Olympic and World Champions.
