Team TIBCO sent a five-rider squad of sprinting specialists to contest the 2012 USA CRITS Speed Week races last week and came away with no less than three wins and first place overall in the team standings. Team TIBCO Junior Alexis Ryan dominated the U25 competition and came away as the overall U25 leader, and 5th place overall in the individual standings.
Throughout the week, the complete squad raced just four of the seven races, yet still succeeded in capturing three wins, a second and third place, and overall Team victory - a product of Team assertiveness and individual sacrifice.
“It was a really nice feeling that everyone was willing to sacrifice themselves for the team,” said Team TIBCO’s Race 7 winner Jo Kiesanowski. “We all got a chance to stand on the podium.”
The Electric City Circuit race on Day 6 was one of the most exciting days for the Team, with Kendall Ryan bravely taking off from the front of the field for a solo breakaway that she carried around the course to eventually lap the field. Ryan won the race after helping lead out Jen Purcell to second place in the bunch sprint. Samantha Schneider also took a classy win earlier in the week at Beaufort Memorial Classic.
Team TIBCO now leads as the best-ranked team for the National Criterium Calendar.
