Here’s another Pyrenees city that has a familiar name to cycling fans. Some of the greatest mountain stages in the history of the Tour finished there, like in 1955 when Louison Bobet conquered the Yellow Jersey that would eventually make him the first rider to conquer the Tour de France three consecutive times. Situated at the crossroads of the different Pyrenees paths, the town also witnessed the victories of Bartali, Gaul, Darrigade or Oca¤a.

The scene occurred under the eyes of Daniel Mangeas who was making his improvised debut as the official Tour speaker! Two years later, confirmed in his function, he was present to commentate on the solo victory of Belgian Lucien Van Impe, who sealed his triumph in his battle against Joop Zoetemelk.
