I read your piece on proper tire pressure and was wondering if the same was true for tubular tires?– Aaron
Tubulars, due to their rounded carcass, can roll smoothly over rough pavement at higher pressures than clinchers. I suggest higher pressures: 120 to 140 psi for 22/23-millimeter tubulars for riders who run clinchers at 100 to 120 psi – Higher still for tubular riders above 180 pounds. Watch the manufacturer’s recommended pressures, however as some ratings are quite low. Most good quality tubulars are rated at 200 psi.
