2019 Cyclocross Nationals Insane Crash

Racing is racing

USA Cycling’s 2019 Cyclocross Nationals brought top talent, six days of intense racing and epic crashes to the Pacific Northwest conditions of Lakewood, Washington.

On Sunday, the elite men toed the line, for the final race of the weekend, Donnelly Aevolo’s Gage Hecht and Kona Maxxis Shimano’s Kerry Werner led the race from the gun.

Two laps in, Hecht sent it down an off-camber rutted descent and ended up tangled in tape on the side of the course but still in the saddle. Hecht redirected himself back onto the course still tangled in tape.

Werner, right behind Hecht, rolled into the tape that was blocking the course which vaulted him over his handlebar.

Hecht held off Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld teammates Curtis White and Stephen Hyde for the victory while Werner finished a minute behind in fourth.
