Julian Alaphilippe valiantly held on to the overall lead as Nairo Quintana held off the breakaway and the GC contenders during Thursday’s stage 18 as he crossed the line in 5:34:15. Egan Bernal moved up 3 spots into second overall 1:30 behind Alaphilippe and 5 seconds ahead of his Ineos teammate Geraint Thomas. Romain Bardet who’s had a disapointing Tour thus far fought for second place on the stage 1:35 behind Quintana.
