2020 Tour de France Stage One Results — UAE’s Kristoff Takes Yellow in Crash-Fest
UAE Team Emirates’ Alexander Kristoff crossed the line ahead of world champion Mads Pedersen to take the yellow jersey after 97 miles around Nice. The 33-year-old Kristoff followed an early move from Sunweb’s Cess Bol and held off many of the pre-race favorites like Peter Sagan Giacomo Nizzolo. It is the Norwegian’s first Tour stage victory since he won on the Champs Elysees in 2018.
On and off rain showers caused havoc throughout the day in the peloton, Caleb Ewan, Julian Alaphilippe,
Thibaut Pinot and many others were involved in crashes. Miguel Angel Lopez had a spectacular wipe-out when he lost control of his bike as his team was leading the final descent. Full stage report coming soon
