A KID AND HIS MAPEI REPLICA COLNAGO

With all the talk (and need) of getting kids on bikes, leave it to Chary Chaisawasdi at TwoHubs Cycling Boutique to bring something truly exciting (at least for bike crazed parents) to the game for his son, Kenji, to ride on the local bike paths.

And what better bike for Kenji’s classmates to get envious over than a miniature replica of a Team Mapei Colnago Master on the bike rack?! Given Chary’s history of building custom bikes for his customers, the bike for Kenji involved plenty of detailed assembly and modifications.

The drivetrain starts with an 11-speed Campagnolo Chorus derailleur (with a Super Record carbon cage to save weight!), a Shimano freehub body and 150mm Rotor cranks. For the wheels, Chary sourced some no-name, Chinese-made, 20-inch, tubeless carbon hoops with skin-wall Vee Speedster tires to maintain the
classic look.

Just in case Kenji was thinking his dad didn’t put enough effort into the custom-painted bike, when it came to the components, Chary threw down with a Chris King headset, a Ti-railed Selle SMP saddle, carbon ITM stem, EE brakes and Speedplay pedals.
