Press release: BMC Switzerland announces the latest iteration of the carbon Teammachine SLR’s performance legacy: The Teammachine ALR. New from the ground up, it features BMC’s most advanced aluminium frame to date, and is engineered to deliver the Teammachine SLR’s racing soul and performance-oriented design with features previously only available on the SLR; such as: iconic Teammachine tube shapes, integrated seatpost clamp and cables, powerful disc brakes, and premium ACE carbon components for unrivaled ride quality.
The Teammachine ALR mirrors the legendary performance, handling features, and aesthetics of the premium carbon Teammachine SLR seen in the Pro Tour. BMC’s new budget-conscious top-performer is ready to meet any challenge from city limit sprints to local crits, and all-day alpine assaults, and does so at accessible price point. Road disc brake technology allows speed-minded riders to brake later and with more modulation as they enter technical tarmac conditions. The Teammachine ALR is available in both disc and traditional rim brake versions, offering riders all the technical options to meet their needs.
Advanced Aluminium Frame
The core of the Teammachine ALR is the premium aluminium frame, which BMC has refined with hydroforming, size-specific tube butting, and smooth welding for high stiffness and a low weight. Choice carbon components deliver the superior ride quality and performance for which the Teammachine is renowned. Triple-butted aluminium tubing demands less material to achieve the required stiffness, therefore allowing weight to be kept to a minimum.
Blending the high-end aluminum core with sophisticated carbon components like the ACE Technology fork and the D-Shaped seatpost, the Teammachine ALR is the ultimate synthesis of raw power transfer, compliance, and carbon-tuned ride quality.
Stefan Christ, Head of R&D at BMC explains, “We consider the Teammachine ALR as an access point to performance road riding. Aluminium technology has progressed in recent years and we now have the possibility to recreate the shape of the Teammachine SLR with aluminium. It’s a lightweight and stiff material, and the Teammachine ALR is complemented by core carbon components.” The Teammachine ALR’s all-new aluminium frame delivers premium ride quality at accessible price point.
The Teammachine ALR features Tuned Compliance Concept (TCC) Race, the most performance-oriented version of this technology. BMC uses TCC to achieve the requisite amount of vertical compliance and lateral stiffness to deliver a tailored riding experience, while road vibrations are filtered out for a smooth and efficient ride. Specific areas of the frame have been engineered to provide finely tuned vertical deflection, improving traction and control on every road surface: race-tuned acceleration, sharp and confident handling and improved rolling speed. The end result is the ultimate balance between comfort and performance for a ride that is both forgiving and fast. TCC Race technology is applied to the fork, seatstays and seatpost.
Swiss Engineering and Design
Besides the finely engineered aluminium frame, the Teammachine ALR scores with further features. The Carbon fork, developed using computer-based ACE technology, delivers a superior mix of vertical compliance and lateral stiffness in a lightweight design. The Teammachine ALR features dropped chainstays with a blade profile to improve vertical compliance while retaining lateral stiffness. The D-Shaped seatpost delivers all-day race compliance in a lightweight package, a solution borrowed from BMC’s class-leading Teammachine SLR.
In terms of integration and design, the Teammachine SLR was the standard. The integrated seatclamp offers a sleek and minimal look, easy accessibility and improved resistance to the elements. Internal cable routing improves durability and enables a clean, understated look. Alloy cable ports deliver clean, weather-proof cable routing. The Teammachine ALR’s high-quality engineering is packaged in a truly Swiss design.
Sizing, Geometry, and Models
The new Teammachine is available in the following models: Teammachine ALR DISC, Teammachine ALR, and available in 47, 51, 54, 56, 58, 61cm sizes.
