First Look: John Degenkolb’s Trek Domane

Press Release

Trek Bicycle has unveiled a custom paint scheme that highlights the unique personality and talents of Trek-Segafredo star, John Degenkolb. An accomplished pro, Degenkolb is best known for his talent early in the cycling season with wins at both Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix, two of cycling’s greatest monuments, highlighting a long list of palmares. The 28-year-old German will ride his custom Domane SLR alongside the rest of Trek-Segafredo throughout the Spring Classics.

The unique paint scheme itself is inspired by Degenkolb’s personal style and off-bike passion—namely classic café racer motorcycles. Conceptualized by Trek graphic designer Micah Moran, the design takes cues directly from the racer’s custom motorcycle he can be found on in and around his hometown of Frankfurt, Germany.
A base of hand-scuffed liquid metal is complemented with a dark smoke tint and clean racing stripes. Pops of glossy red smoke add contrast, and John’s lucky number and removable team logos complete the design.
The John Degenkolb Café Racer Domane is available now to riders around the world through Project One. The one-of-a-kind paint scheme is available on the Domane SLR and SLR Disc platforms, in addition to the Domane SLR Race Shop Limited and the all-new Domane SLR Race Shop Limited Disc.
Race Shop Limited models feature Trek’s Pro Endurance geometry, which provides a lower, longer, more aerodynamic riding position than the Endurance geometry found on Domane SLR. Riders looking for a racier disc bike that is still comfortable on long, rough rides will be thrilled with the introduction of Domane SLR Race Shop Limited Disc (below).
Each John Degenkolb Café Racer Domane is hand-painted at Trek’s global headquarters in Waterloo, Wisconsin, and available beginning today to riders everywhere exclusively through Project One.
