The Tour de France champ makes a surprise entry

One thing you should know about three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond is that he rarely sits still for too long. When we last ran into Greg LeMond it was at the 2019 Eurobike show and in typical fashion, Greg was in a fevered pitch checking out all the latest bikes, with a particular focus on e-bikes. As he darted away from us in the aisles, he just promised that he was “working on a few things” and we’d be hearing about it all sometime soon.

Well, it turns out that he indeed was working on something and we recently got the first glimpse of what that was when a bright, metallic pink Prolog e-bike arrived for our sister ‘zine Electric Bike Action to test. The bike was a real eye-catcher and not just for the pretty in pink color, but also a variety of details that made the bike a real standout in the crowd.

Shimano under-the-bar shifters are mated to a Shimano GRX 1x drivetrain.

The 250-watt Mahle rear hub motor produces enough juice to assist up to 20 mph.

The carbon Prolog city bike is powered by a 250-watt Mahle rear hub motor that has three levels of assist and claims to provide a range of 45 miles with a top speed of 20 mph. The smart looking bike uses a Shimano GRX 1x drivetrain (with a Di2 option) and hits the scales at just a skooch over 26 pounds.

A really nice touch for added safety are the rear LED lights that offer both rear and side visibility.

Added highlights include carbon fenders and wheels, a one-piece carbon handlebar/stem combo and really impressive integrated LED lights (with the seatstay mounted lights offering side visibility as well).

The carbon prolog enjoys nice sculpting from front to back. The one-piece bar/stem combo includes the integrated 500w headlight.
The Prolog is available in three colors and prices start at $4500.

The Dutch is the second model in Greg’s introductory line of e-bikes.
