FIRST LOOK: ROVAL RAPIDE C38

An update that's tubeless and affordable

When it comes to wheels Specialized and Roval took a step back in our opinion with the release of the Alpinist and Rapide line that launched alongside the SL7 Tarmac. Sure the weight is right, the profiles are cutting edge, but to remove the tubeless compatibility at the last minute for wheels that were clearly designed to be is not the innovate or die way. Well, it seems with a bit more time they are getting back on track and we have the new Rapide C38 that is tubeless, but best of all they’re far more affordable too.

The new price point carbon clincher is a perfect match for the also new SRAM Rival AXS.

All too often the performance advantages that carbon fiber provide are out of financial reach for most. The Rapide C38 de-escalates the high-tech carbon arms race; merging our incredibly light but incredibly tough, sensibly aerodynamic, workhorse C38 rims with the dependable, affordable performance of DT Swiss 370 hubs and J-bend spokes. Leading-edge aerodynamics, proven reliability, lightweight combined with superb durability – these are the go-to training wheels for the world’s fastest racers, and about the highest performance per dollar you’ll find anywhere.

The tubeless-ready, 21-mm internal width of the C38 rim is strategically optimized for use with wider tires, providing ideal sidewall support and handling in any condition. Exceptionally lightweight, robust all-round wheels that also aerodynamically outperform many deeper, aero-specific rims. The training wheels for Pro Tour riders and Roval’s best-selling wheel.
