Giant Introduces New Helmet Just In Time For Team Giant-Alpecin At The Tour

Developed with Team Giant-Alpecin pros, this sub 250-gram helmet blends aerodynamics, ventilation and precise fit. Following the success of Giant’s Rev, Rivet and Rivet TT helmets—each developed with specific performance factors for road riders—Giant is now unveiling the Pursuit, an all-new helmet that combines the aero speed of a time trial helmet with the superior ventilation, precise fit and impact protection of a pro-level road helmet.

The new Pursuit helmet is available in six color choices. Availability varies by country.

Working with Team Giant-Alpecin riders and Aero Concept Engineering in France, Giant has created a helmet that offers an aerodynamic advantage without any compromises in weight, ventilation or fit. The Pursuit was designed, developed and tested using Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis, with a goal of meeting precise performance goals outlined by a development team of engineers and pro riders.Once the overall design and technologies were established, the Pursuit was refined through further field-testing and feedback from the Giant-Alpecin team.

The Cinch Pro fit system cradles the occipital bone for full protection, support and comfort. Large scoop-like paddles protrude outward for a secure, comfortable fit on the head.

The end result of this collaboration is a helmet that is proven through third-party testing to offer an aerodynamic advantage along with best-in-class ventilation—all in a package that weighs less than 250 grams. The Pursuit’s overall shape features an aero profile with a distinct design that employs two large dimples to channel airflow from the crown of the helmet toward the rear. CFD simulations and wind-tunnel tests show that the dimples optimize average aero performance in various rider positions and wind directions. This minimizes drag to help riders achieve higher average speeds in real-world conditions.

Strategically placed AeroVent ports optimize airflow through the helmet, which improves aerodynamics and adds head-cooling ventilation.

Strategically positioned openings in the front act as “drag-neutral” intake ports, pulling air through the helmet and streaming it through deep, wide internal channels from front to back. The air is then pushed out the rear exhaust ports, creating a cooling sensation and a balanced climate so that riders can stay comfortable and perform better during their hardest efforts. The Pursuit also features a cutting-edge impact protection design. The helmet is constructed with multi-density foam materials. The low-density foam absorbs energy from low-speed impacts, while high-density foam protects riders in higher speed impacts.
