On Saturday, December 9th, Keith Jackson was struck by a Hit and Run driver while he was riding his road bike. He was hit from behind while climbing La Tuna Canyon in Sunland with his son Chris and daughter-in-law Rene. He is currently in the ICU fighting for his life, still unconscious. All that is known about the car is that it was a black SUV (they think Mazda).
On Sunday, December 17th we attended the Finish the ride event to help benefit Keith’s Recovery put on by S.A.F.E. The ride was event was well attended and truly was an example of how a community can come together to support a fellow rider. For more info on Keith and his recovery, there is a Facebook group you can join. For more info on other Finish The Ride events and everything S.A.F.E. is doing head to their website.
Also, take a minute to fill out a petition to help change the popular La Tuna Canyon Road and prevent more incidents like this one. For the rest of the photos from the day’s event click here.
We are here at the Keith Jackson Finish the Ride in Griffith Park. Keith was involved in a hit and run on December 9th and is still in intensive care. Damian from Streets Are For Everyone – SAFE tells us all about the program.
