LA VUELTA A ESPANA 2021 STAGE 11 PREVIEW

La Vuelta a Espana stage 11 is the shortest stage of this year’s race at 83 miles long. However, over 8000 feet of elevation will allow riders to animate the race between Antequera and Valdepeñas de Jaén. The only categorized climb peaks at just over 5 miles from the finish. The 3000 foot climb of the category 2 Puerto de Locubin is just over 5 miles long with a 5 percent average gradient.  From there the riders descend for a few miles before facing a series of hills with 20-percent-plus grades.

Race Director’s Comments

“Popular steep climb in La Vuelta. A winding route that crosses the provinces of Málaga, Córdoba and Jaén, with a leg-breaking terrain where heat may play a determining factor. The arrival will be very tough, with slopes of over 20% in the final mile.”
