Four-time Tour de France champion, Chris Froome signed with Israel Start-Up Nation for his 15th season as a pro. The 35-year-old modeled his new kit on Deer Creek Road in the Santa Monica Mountains as ISN’s Israeli team camp was cancelled due to travel restrictions.

Do-it-yourselfer Colin Strickland explains his rise through alternative cycling and why he opted out of a chance at WorldTour Racing in his 30s. The Texan made his own career racing the Red Hook Crit series and winning the 2019 Dirty Kanza which officially brought him into the light of the gravel scene.

FIRST LOOK: AG2R’S BMC
French WorldTour squad AG2R partnered with BMC and Campagnolo to supply the team’s 2021 road bikes, leaving multi-year sponsor Merckx bikes. Olympic champ Greg Van Avermaet will lead the team with support from Benoit Cosnefroy, Lilian Calmejane, Mathias Frank and Michael Schar.

Ringing in the new year with the latest WorldTour team kits. WorldTour racing is set to begin late February with the seventh edition of the UAE Tour, which was notably cut short in 2020 as multiples team staff members and riders tested positive for the coronavirus in March. With new safety measures in place, teams are planning to return to kick off the 2021 season.
TUBULAR VS TUBELESS?
For as long as people have been riding bikes, wheel systems have come in two styles: clincher and tubular.
A clincher wheel system uses a tire and rim that has a bead interface but relies on the air pressure in the inner tube to hold the tire on the rim bead. The tube also offers added support for the tire, allowing the tire to be thinner and lighter by itself.
The tubular style is a bit different in that the tire, tube and valve are all one. The rim has a concave shape but no bead. Instead, the tire is either glued or taped to the rim. Since the tire, tube and valve are all one unit, they can be specifically designed for certain conditions or ride characteristics. Professional cycling has relied on tubulars for many years because of this. The downside to this system is the tires are very hard to change if you get a puncture or wear them out, and there are few options when it comes to repairing a puncture.
