NEW CARBON FROM ITALY: BASSO ASTRA

From the outskirts of Vicenza, Italy Alcide Basso has been making high-performance road bikes in his small bike factory for over 45 years. Starting in January 2023 his new Astra all-road bike will be the latest model to join the parade with wheel clearance for up to 35mm tires.

The new Astra will be available in three striking colorways and you choice of five different drivetrain options. As usual, Basso Bikes can be had at surprisingly low prices for bikes that are handmade in Italy.

Can a racing bicycle be versatile and performing at the same time? Can it be the expression of a lifestyle, capable of enhancing it in any situation?

At Basso they responded starting from the design. Astra is developed around people’s lives, to make it suitable for various occasions, even very different from each other. Its features are designed with a very specific purpose: to amplify the lifestyle of those who gets on the saddle, whatever their definition of cycling is.

Astra 2023 is an evergreen consistent with its past, but capable of perfecting itself from model to model becoming more versatile. Tackle light gravel with 35 mm tires or tarmac with 28 mm. Its geometry is the most Basso of all, derived from steel models. The platform has been improved year after year, preserving the racing DNA but making it transversal and also suitable for those who are not athletes who ride a bike every day. Careful attention to detail has made it less nervous and more comfortable.

While the carbon frame allows the weight to be reduced to around 980 g, Basso’s high-profile technological solutions make Astra even more versatile:
