The organizers of the Colorado Classic have announced via their Facebook page that they will return for a second year with dates taking place August 16-19th. The first two days will host the men’s and women’s race both in Vail with the race then moving to Denver to finish out the remaining two days. The race will also bring back the Velorama and three-day music style festival.

“There are many details to be worked out, so stay tuned for more information about routes, teams, bands, changes at Velorama, and more in the coming months! We can’t wait!” — via Colorado Classic Facebook page.

Ah yes, another year to look back, another year to look forward. While the 2017 season marked a solid year for new bike technology, the overall theme of the bike industry was not that positive. Of course, it didn’t help that the race season has to end with the news of Chris Froome’s enhanced use of an asthma drug at the Vuelta a Espana. Doping?! Kicked-out? Deja vu?

With 2018 just days away so what say we clean the slate, kick out the old, and ready ourselves to kick in the new with a look back on all the good stuff that passed through the RBA offices in 2017.

With the current news and drama surrounding Chris Froome’s failed Vuelta drug test Lance Armstrong voiced his opinion on the matter in his recent Stages podcast.

“He could be completely exonerated and he is tarnished forever. Damage is done, You might think I am talking about him caring about whether they write negative articles about him, he may or may not. I don’t know and it doesn’t really matter. But, come next July, when this all gets cleaned up, it is already unpleasant for him, this is going to be complete mayhem and I know exactly what that fucking feels like. And it ain’t any fun.”

Lance also voiced his opinion with how the media has responded to the issue with mainly his thoughts on the recent New York Times article; “The article the day after in the New York Times was the biggest bunch of bullshit that I have ever read. If you are a fan of Baseball who gets the New York Times every day and you read that story, and it is just so harsh on Chris Froome, and our sport, and our sport’s history.”

As part of the Wahoo product ecosystem, both the ELEMNT BOLT GPS Computer and the TICKR Heart Rate Monitor will serve as crucial elements of the team’s strategy, serving riders with key training metrics while enabling them to easily and efficiently measure race-winning efforts.

From Team Sky and BORA-Hansgrohe to KATUSHA ALPECIN, we’re extremely proud to have some of the fastest guys in the pro peloton training and racing with the Wahoo devices,” said Chip Hawkins, CEO of Wahoo Fitness. “The gains to be had from utilizing the Wahoo product ecosystem are very real – from our category-leading customization and ease of use, to the BOLT’s wind tunnel-tested aerodynamic savings, and we couldn’t be happier that the WorldTour’s leading teams are taking notice.”

If your looking to bring in the New Year the right way which means out logging miles on your bike and are in the Southern California area take a look at whats on hand for the upcoming 4 Days to Fitness.

4 Days To Fitness Details & Routes
– Four consecutive days of riding in and around Santa Clarita Valley with a large group.
– There’s no cost other than chipping in for gas to any follow vehicles willing to support the rides.
Big Wheel Coaching will hold a coaching presentation Friday evening at CBS Cycling. Everyone is welcome. Details on the topics will be announced in December.
– Everyone is responsible for themselves, so be self-sufficient and know the routes.

The rides are about getting in social miles and are not a race, so please do not impact the group if your riding goals differ from that. But….there will be an opportunity to stretch the legs and impress your peers on days 2, 3, and 4. More info on that later.  Expect most days to average between 17-19 mph, and because of wide-ranging fitness levels, multiple groups will form on the road. We’ll have one to two re-group points so the majority of riders can re-connect with the main group.

Everyone is responsible for themselves, so ensure you know the route and are self-sufficient in case you get dropped from the group or have a flat tire. Obey all rules of the road! Each day the ride will depart at 8:30 AM from the parking lot adjacent to the bike path near McDonald’s off McBean Pkwy.

More information including routes can be found on their Facebook page.
