The streets of Long Beach lit up for the sprinters during stage 1
The sign in surf board for TOC isn’t your average European sign in board.
Peter Sagan isn’t from California but the fans treat him as if he’s one of their own.
The streets of Long Beach offered up many lanes for the peloton to race and navigate on.
The first stage was relatively uneventful as only two riders sat in the break not gaining much more then 2 minutes.
The cliche California backdrop with blue skies and palm trees.
Most of the race had riders lined out single file as they snaked their way through out the course.
Katusha stayed up towards the front most of the race but Kittel wasn’t able to step onto the box.
The Queen Mary is an iconic staple in Long Beach.
It was a very hectic last kilometer were many riders were bumping shoulders.
Fernando Gaviria proved to be the fastest and best placed to snag the victory.
