Deceuninck Quick Step’s Pieter Serry hit the deck after the BikeExchange team car rear-ended the rider 7 miles from the stage 6 summit finish. The 32-year old bounced off the hood of the BikeExchange vehicle as it appeared that race director in the official’s car was chatting with the driver of the BikeExchange team car moments before the incident. Serry was drifting off the back of the peloton as the team car came up from behind. Serry was able to remount his bike and finish the stage 14:37 behind first-time stage winner Gino Mader.
