The Tour of Switzerland wrapped up this past week as it’s the sister TDF prep race to the Criterium du Dauphine. What really stood out which shouldn’t be much of a surprise was Peter’s level of dominance in the sprints against some top class names. It would be one thing to see him win by bike lengths to lesser name sprinters but he made guys such as John Degenkolb look like amateurs. You could tell Peter was having a good time as well as he was breaking out new victory salutes and posing for photo’s such as above. He should be in line again to grab his next green jersey come July. PC: Bettini

With the summer temps already rising Gore Bike Wear has launched their Oxygen CC Bib & Jersey. Think of them as the summer complement to the Oxygen Classics kit – instead of Windstopper®, we’re talking judicious use of mesh paneling and lighter weight fabrics to maximize your comfort and performance when the temperature soars. It’s the little additions such as a kit like this to help you get through those longer rides in the heat. The Jersey will run you $120 and the Bib will set you back $190.

As we already spoke about Peter being the dominant rider at the just wrapped up Tour of Switzerland the racing was good for the other stages as their wasn’t a clear top rider there such as a Froome, Porte etc. The yellow jersey changed hands several times with Caruso having good days followed by Pozzovivo having good days followed by a bad day. In the end though Spilak would come good and take another Tour of Swiss victory. Interesting though is that with riders going to Dauphine/Swiss in hopes to have good form heading into the Tour Spilak on the other hand has no Grand Tour ambitions and is perfectly contempt with targeting shorter stage races and not worrying about the big three. Seems to be working for him. PC Bettini

I was really thinking Michael Woods was going to pull it off during stage six of Tour of Switzerland as well as he was down on GC and attacked the group at the base of the final climb. He dropped his fellow riders and pulled away a good gap only to be caught by Pozzovivo towards the summit of the climb. From there though it looked like a slam dunk as Woods only had to follow Pozzovivo down the descent and outsprint him as Woods packs a pretty good sprint. Unfortunately though the rain started to fall and it appears Woodsy still needs to work on his descending skills in the rain and was dropped by the Italian and then even caught by the next group of chasers. Either way though it was very impressive and has been super cool to see him get better and better at the higher level after being teammates with him back in ’14 while we both rode for the 5 Hour Energy p/b Kenda team.

Yes, the folks at Specialized have been hard at work pushing the limits and creating new technologies for new types of riding.  We’ve been hunkered down in the east coast heat of New Jersey this week at their 2018 new product launch and one thing that has been evident from our few days here is they listen to the feedback from customers just as much if not more than their athletes. This data is then used to help target their products and also to further improve those they already have in the line. Take these three new models for example

It’s worth sharing that the podium celebration is not all glitz and glamor even at the World Tour level. Peter shows that he still has the leg strength hoping over the fence on his way to another podium celebration.

We’re not too far out from another good Gravel ride which takes place down in Temecula wine country with the back rolling hills. With a 50 mile challenging course on hand you can get a good ride in but not too long of a ride where you will still have time to enjoy the food and drinks and beautiful venue post ride. We look forward to seeing and hanging out with everyone soon! www.spndxstampede.com
