We’re normally used to seeing Froomey by himself like this as he’s winning the stage but the recent Dauphine saw Froome not at his normal level of dominance. Froome has typically won the Dauphine heading into the Tour but this year saw a new different dominant rider in his former teammate Porte.

Speaking of the Dauphine we saw some really unexpected racing with Richie being the dominant rider, Froome not being at his best and the new amazing duo of Fuglsang and Aru of Astana. Fuglsang did have a bit of luck on his side as Richie picked the wrong tactics to follow on the final stage but with two stage wins he didn’t luck into winning the GC. It’ll be curious to see if he will be a contender come the Tour.

Our latest test bike to show up is the BMC Team Machine which is the same frame which Richie Porte just showed his dominance on during the recent Dauphine. Everyone in the office is currently fighting over who will be the lucky editor to test this beautiful machine out, fingers crossed.

It was an eventful weekend for Masters racing in the Southern California area. Kayle LeoGrande of former Rock Racing looked to have tested positive; again, at the Dana Point Grand Prix. This will likely bring him a lifetime ban after his previous doping ban from the “Rock’s Not Dead” days.

If that wasn’t enough the video below shows another master’s racer at the Ladera Ranch crit take down a fellow racer. From watching the video below you can see the move and judge for yourself but from my past racing experience I would have chose the open ten feet to the right of the rider to pass and not the few inches available in the gutter. Normally when you accidentally hit a rider and here the sound of them crashing on the ground you immediately look back, here though the rider just sprints off which leads me to think he knew what he was doing.

Thank you to Bontrager for sending over their XXX shoe as these are the latest shoes I’ve been putting the test to. I’ve always wanted to give these a try as they are pretty popular among the pro peloton. With professionals you can usually get a good read on whats a good shoe as most riders will choose what they want to wear other then team sponsor shoes. Most teams won’t have a shoe sponsor as riders are particular about their shoes and these are very common to see.

The last few weeks have been a good run for the Americans with wins coming in three World Tour races and the Baby Giro. Andrew Talansky started it off by winning the queen stage at the Tour of California. Tejay followed up by taking his stage win at the Giro. Young phenom Neilson Powless took the opening stage of the Baby Giro which is back this year and to cap it off Larry Warbasse took his first professional victory at the Tour de Swiss. Pretty amazing boys!

We’re less then a month out of some more Gravel good times come July 8th. Grab yourself a gravel bike and come join the RBA crew for some good times in Temecula wine country. More info can be found here.
