Max Van Gils solo’d to victory on a decisive stage 4 of the 2022 Saudi Tour. Van Gils made his move in the final 500 meters of the day’s main climb which covered nearly 2 miles at an average gradient of over 12-percent. Van Gils finished 40 seconds ahead of a group of chasers including Quick Step’s race favorite Andrea Bagioli and Bahrain Victorious’ race leader Santiago Buitrago. It’s the first professional win for Van Gils and the second for his Lotto Squad in the race. The 86-mile final stage is expected to finish in a sprint tomorrow.
