The Start:

Montélimar

The only finish of a Tour stage in Montélimar in 2006 was decisive for the GC.
A group of four riders reached the finish with an advantage of close to half an hour on the peloton. In this group, Jens Voigt claimed the stage win while Oscar Pereiro captured the Yellow Jersey. The Spaniard was only to lose it in the final time-trial before eventually getting it back after Floyd Landis was stripped of his victory.

The Finish:

Villars-les-Dombes Parc des Oiseaux

Visitors come to Villars-les-Dombes mainly to be seduced by the 300 bird species present in the Parc des Oiseaux. But for the last few years, this bird watching site has taken the habit of welcoming the elite of cycling. Tony Martin claimed a time-trial there during the 2013 Critérium du Dauphiné. Last June, a stage of the Dauphiné ended in a sprint won by Nacer Bouhanni.

Economy: The Bird Park, the department’s main tourist attraction, is the largest bird park in France (35 hectares) and one of the largest in Europe. It receives nearly 300,000 visitors a year, including 30,000 schoolchildren. There are 200 camping pitches, with caravans and fullyequipped tents, a 27m-high observation tower to view birds from above
