A photo gallery of an American Great

As was reported yesterday, American racer Taylor Phinney has decided to quit racing and look for new adventures in life.  The teenage phenom came to the sport as the scion of American cycling royalty; Connie Carpenter and Davis Phinney, and leaves with  a trail of great rides and interesting commentary. From Paris-Roubaix to a variety of velodromes to the Giro d’Italia and even Dirty Kanza, “TP” was a sight and sound to behold. He will be missed.

Rolling into the finish of this year’s Dirty Kanza…tired, hungry, and dejected at suffering from four flat tires.

OF COURSE, FROM WHENCE IT CAME

Talk about coming from a champions bloodline, in addition to his mother, 1984 Olympic gold medalist Connie Carpenter, Taylor is the son of American superstar Davis Phinney (r).
