The Vanilla Workshop Brings the Speedvagen CX

The Vanilla Workshop first started with a ‘cross bike and nearly two decades later it’s still their favorite of all disciplines. Maybe that’s because the culture of ‘cross (camaraderie, celebration and racing your guts out, 100%) matches the company’s values so closely.

Much of Speedvagen’s distinct aesthetic comes from lots of head scratching about how a ‘cross machine could be better. The details run deep and they’re all there for a reason. If they made the cut, it’s because they make the bike faster, or better for shouldering, or corner more precisely, or to solve ages old braking issues.

Every Speedvagen race machine is hand built in their Portland, Oregon, workshop and is meant to be ridden. Hard. Vanilla Workshop is constantly asking themselves “How can we remove any sense of preciousness? What’s going to make these bikes get used to their fullest?”

The result is two complete Speedvagen Team Issue Cyclocross machines: CX-R and CX-X, fully built, ready to race and starting at $5995. Although the Team Issue Cyclocross falls under the Ready Made line that offers stock sizing, they will only be available as a pre-order between July 18th to Aug 1st. Once the window closes they will get to work building the frames for the start of the ‘cross season.

As with their other Ready Made bikes, these Team Issue versions are the distillation of everything that makes a Speedvagen a Speedvagen, without compromising on performance or standard features.
