Tour de France 2019 Results: Stage 4

Stage 4 Tuesday, July 9

Nothing could really prevent a royal bunched sprint on the 1.5-km final straight in Nancy. At the beginning of the Tour, the hierarchy concerning the sprinters isn’t yet established. Ready to challenge the winner of the first stage, his rivals will consider that the counter is reset to zero: their teams will be focused on keeping control of any breakaway attempt.

– C. Prudhomme

Italian Elia Viviani emerged victorious in Nancy, after a perfect lead out from the yellow jersey Julian Alaphilippe and his Deceuninck Quick Step team. Julian Alaphilippe maintains a 20 second lead over Wout Van Aert to keep the yellow jersey and Viviani now trails Peter Sagan by 23 points in the points competition.
