Matej Mohoric launched a solo attack to victory on stage 7 of the 2021 Tour de France. Mohoric made his initial move by making it into the breakaway early in the 155 mile stage until strategically positioning himself in a group of three riders that the Slovenian attacked in the final 15 miles.
Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Art battled each other in the chase group in the final miles of the longest Tour de France stage in more than 20 years. Van der Poel held off the inspired Belgian as Van Aert moved into second place overall behind van der Poel.
