Tweet of the Day: Angel Madrazo Hit by his Team Car, Goes on to Win the Stage Video
At least he got his water
With the overall competition at the Vuelta up for grabs since many typical GC favorites are out of the race, the daily breakaway escapees have been making the best of each stage.
Leading the King of the Mountains standings Angel Madrazo and his Burgos-BH teammate Jetse Bol were off the front as the GC hopefuls were taking a free ride in the peloton. As he rolled back to his team car to pick up some nutrition at the same time as his teammate, Madrazo’s rear wheel was rammed by the Burgos-BH team car’s bumper. Madrazo lost control and veered off the side of the road until he regained his balance.
Madrazo then went on to win the stage, claiming the first ever Vuelta stage win for Spanish team Burgos. In doing so he consolidated his grip on the climbers’ standings.
