Tweet of the Day: Ian Boswell Announces Departure from WorldTour Racing to Focus on Gravel
A new road for a seasoned rider
American pro cyclist Ian Boswell announced his plans for 2020. Boswell will be not be transitioning with the former Katusha squad for the upcoming season and instead will be sponsored by Wahoo.
Boswell had a tough 2019 season, which saw him off the bike for most of the season following a horrendous crash at Tirreno Adriatico in March.
Boswell joins former WorldTour rider Peter Stetina along with 2019 Dirty Kanza champions Amity Rockwell and Colin Strickland under the new Wahoo gravel umbrella.
Expect to see the 28-year-old and 7-year WorldTour veteran at the biggest gravel races of the Year including Dirty Kanza, and Boswell’s own Peacham Fall Fondo in Vermont.

For the past 15 years of my life I have been on the slick and narrow path. My childhood dreams became my life, my idols and heroes became my friends and roommates. I raced, trained, laughed, suffered and grew as a professional road cyclist, and all these experiences and people and challenges have brought me to where I am today and molded the man I am now.

It’s time for something new — time for a change and a new challenge. New frontiers in cycling lie ahead for me, and I am eager to learn, race, train, laugh, suffer, and grow more in the beautiful sport of cycling.

With only the highest respect for those who carry on in the World Tour, I am shifting gears, as they say, to explore a new part of myself as I depart from professional road racing and attack the gravel calendar. I am proud to represent Wahoo (a brand I have been with since I entered the World Tour in 2013) in the largest gravel events in the U.S. this year. ????????♂️
There are a multitude of reasons that have inspired this transition for me: 1) since my concussion in March, the intensity of the World Tour does not feel like a safe place for me 2) I’m psyched to collaborate with brands I respect and admire 3) my home in Vermont just has too much darn good gravel not to capitalize on it!
