Tweet of the Day: Phil Liggett Looks Back at the Tour
The greatest and the saddest Tour yet
Following what many are calling the most exciting Tour de France of the decade, legendary television voice Phil Liggett looked back at his first Tour without his longtime co-host, Paul Sherwen. After Sherwen’s passing in late December the American TV audience was left with a void few thought anyone could fill. However, when Bob Roll began announcing alongside Liggett, the American’s racing experience and insightful commentary filled the gap that many thought would be missing. Here’s what Phil had to say the day following the finale in Paris.
That was in many ways the greatest and also the saddest Tour of the 47 I have done. The Tour was so aware of my loss of Sherwen that they went out of their way to get me through the three weeks. AND, well done @bobkeroll for a great job in the seat to my left.
