Up Close: Jakob Fulgsang’s Specialized Venge Aero-Road Bike

There is of course no shortage of new bikes to talk about at this year’s Tour de France – probably more than any previous year. Big bike brands like Trek, Cannondale, Specialized and Giant have each rolled-out new road bikes for both their sprinters and GC contenders alike. Rumor has it that both Look and Orbea will be rolling out new TT bikes.

We were at the grand launch of the Specialized Venge at the Specialized wind tunnel and also got one of the very rare opportunities to ride the bike as well… Specialized Venge Launch… and then came team Astana’s Jakob Fulgsang on his pitch black race bike ready to tackle the Tour de France.

Campagnolo has updated the look and feel of their Ergo shifters.
The entirely unique side-pull, aero brakes warrant much discussion.
Although the new Venge departs from convention in a number of ways, it retains a bolt-on bar/stem combo.
Even if you’re not a Campagnolo fan, you gotta admit there is no the crank with as elegant look as the Campy Super Record carbon crank.

The Venge frame guarantees a tight fit for the French made Corima wheels mounted with Specialized tires.
