Stage one of the Tour of Poland came to a horrific end when Deceuninck-QuickStep’s Fabio Jakobsen crashed into the barriers in the final meters of the day. Dylan Groenewegen drifted towards the barriers as he approached the line and sent fellow Dutchman Jakobsen over the barriers, which splayed across the finish line causing more riders, including Groenewegen, to go down.

Deceuninck QuickStep Director Patrick Lefevere let out his frustration on Twitter. DQS announced the Jakobsen is being tended to by the medical staff, we are awaiting further information about his recovery.
