WHAT ELSE DID WE SEE?

Talk about a rare find, how about this full suspension Boulder Defiant PR (as in Paris Roubaix) that was inspired by the brief rush to suspension at the cobbled classic back in 1994.

Cipollini all-road — While maybe not an all-out gravel bike, the AllRoad bike from Cipollini can definitely fit bigger tires for some mixed surface riding.

DMT Pogacar shoes — DMT was showing off the lace-up KR1 shoes that Tadej Pogacar has been using to win the Tour de France for the last two years.

When we weren’t busy doing walk-abouts through the expo booths, the RBA crew were livin’ large in the media room.

Besides the gaggle of rough-hewn journos filling the media room, there was also the classy American road race legend Frankie Andreu who was at the Sea Otter as the official race announcer.

The Prologo saddle brand were proud to display one of the race winning Colnago team bikes ridden by two-time Tour de France champ Tadej Pogacar.

Amid all the trappings of modern day cycling technology, we found this sweet “sturdy and versatile” old Cannondale touring bike looking for a new owner.

Long before such things like Di2 and 12 speed cassettes, there was Shimano Index Shifting with seven speeds and something called “BioPace” chainrings.

Scott was showing off their Addict gravel bike.

Long before the Texan induced spat broke things up, between Trek and Greg LeMond, Trek was selling a lot of LeMond branded bikes.

Later in the day (but still not finished announcing) former US Postal rider Frankie Andreu could be found relaxing in the sweet California sun.

The one photo that captures what the Sea Otter is really all about….turning circles and having fun on two wheels.

BTW, in the days long before he was a race announcer, Frankie Andreu spent many an hour as top American bike racer, here taking the outside line around his 7-Eleven teammate Alex Stieda.
