Legion of LA is the latest addition to the American Pro Continental circuit. For the last few years Legion dominated the American crit schedule with their LA-based roster headlined by brothers Justin and Cory Williams. For their first season in the pro ranks the team has expanded to include former Israel Start-Up Nation riders Freddy Ovett and Tyler Williams as well as American pros Sam Boardman and Ty Magner. Kendall Ryan, Skylar Schneider and Avry Howes will be racing at the UCI level for Legion in 2021 as well. Following their step-up into the big leagues, Legion revealed their 2021 team kits with the coveted UCI logo during their Malibu team camp.
WE ARE THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE… WE ARE ON A MISSION TO BECOME THE ONLY BLACK-OWNED PROFESSIONAL CYCLING TEAM IN AMERICA IN 2021. AS OF RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE NO BLACK PROFESSIONAL CYCLISTS IN AMERICA. WE WILL CHANGE THAT AND SET AN EXAMPLE FOR KIDS OF ALL COLORS.”
L39ION of LA has today unveiled their 2021 team kit from their California training camp. The kit is the result of a design collaboration between the team, Zwift and Rapha.
“Stoked to have this kit finally on our backs”, says Justin Williams, Team Manager and founder of L39ION. “I loved working on the design story behind this jersey – it’s the perfect expression of the ethos of our team and the synergy we have with Zwift. The only thing missing right now is a race number, and we can’t wait to get those pinned on soon.”
“Working in partnership with Zwift and Rapha was an incredibly rewarding experience creatively”, continues Williams. “We wanted to find a way to connect the team’s mission with the playfulness of Zwift. The inspiration for the design came from one of Watopia’s most distinctive features – the Volcano. Volcanoes are disruptive forces, they are unstoppable, but ultimately they are the creators of new worlds. This felt like the perfect way to tell the story of our partnership – two disruptive brands born in LA on a mission to make the world a better and more inclusive place.”
The team kit will be available to purchase from Rapha. All profits from sales of the team race jersey go back to the team to fund their development
