Spanish bike manufacturer, Orbea, unveiled an all-new endurance road platform at Bike PressCamp called the Avant. With a taller headtube and a more upright riding position, the Avant is ideal for customers who want a bit of extra comfort over longer distances than what’s offered by brand’s flagship race bike, the Orca. Check out the video below from Orbea to learn more about the all-new Avant.
Orbea’s new endurance road platform is called the Avant, and the Spanish brand promises that it still packs a performance-oriented punch in addition to greater comfort than the company’s Orca race bike. (Video courtesy of Orbea.)
The SRAM Red hydraulic rear brake is neatly tucked away between the chainstays and seat stays on this top-of-the-line build option. The Avant also features internal cable routing that’s capable of accepting both mechanical and electronic drivetrains, thanks to an interchangeable rubber grommet system.
The Avant will be available in seven sizes: 47, 49, 51, 53, 55, 57 and 60cm. There is no women’s specific version of the Avant, but Orbea says that the bike is ‘unisex.’ The smallest 47cm and 49cm were designed specifically with women in mind. Along with a linear stack/reach measurement system that yields more consistent geometry throughout the size range, the Avant comes with different fork rakes depending on the frame size. While the bigger frame sizes feature a fork with 43mm of rake, the smaller frame sizes feature a fork with 53mm of rake in order to help prevent toe overlap.

Orbea wanted the Avant to provide plenty of versatility, so they built it with discreet rack and fender mounts. Also, extra tire clearance will enable riders to use up to a size 28c tire for additional comfort and control over rougher roads. (Photo courtesy of Orbea.)
In addition to the all-new Avant endurance road bike, Orbea has also released an all-new version of the brand’s flagship race bike, the Orca. Check out the teaser video below:
