Jacopo Guarnieri is the winner of the first stage of the Tour de Pologne 2010. For the young sprinter from Team Liquigas Doimo is the first win of the season beating at the final sprint the Spaniard Aitor Galdos (Euskaltel-Euskadi), and the Australian Allan Davis (Team Astana). Guarnieri is back to win on the roads of Poland. Today’s sprint has been characterized by a crash at 1500 meters to the finish line which eliminated some favorites. Lucas and JJ Haedo from Team Saxo Bank crashed badly but they were able to finish the stage. During the race Timothy Gudsell from Francaise des Jeux was immediately transported to the Hospital with a collarbone fracture.
The Race
The First stage of 175.1 kilometers of Sochaczew in Warsaw started with a long breakaway of 4 riders: Polish Janyaczyk Blazej (Polska BGZ), the Frenchman Laszlo Bodrogi (Team Katusha), the American Michael Schar (BMC Racing Team) and Spaniard Daniel Sesma (Euskaltel Euskadi).
For the Polish Janyaczyk the satisfaction of having won the first intermediate sprint 13.2 from the start at Zelazowa Wola in front of the Chopin house, the famous Polish musician to whom the 67th Tour de Pologne is dedicated. Janyaczyk won the red jersey provided by ‘Fiat’ for the most aggressive rider.
The attempt of the fugitives was quashed in the final circuit in Warsaw under the pressure of HTC-Columbia, Team Liquigas and Team Katusha. The Polish rider Lukasz Bodnar (Polska BGZ) won the first GPM. Bodnar is wearing the first cyclamen jersey ‘Tauron’.
Guarnieri took the yellow jersey powered by ‘Skandia’ leading the general classification and blue jersey powered by ‘Plus’ of the points classification.
‘I must thank the team for the trust they put on me ? Guarnieri said -. Ten days ago, during a track race I understood that I was in good shape. The team has worked perfectly for me and we were repayed with the victory. This year’s Tour de Pologne is a demanding race but I am sure that our leader Schmyd and Sagan will be protagonist of the race until the end.’ Guarnieri leads the General Classification in front of Aitor Galdos and Janyaczyk Blazej

2nd STAGE: RAWA MAZOWIECKA ? DABROWA G?RNICZA 240 km
The longest stage of 2010 TdP edition finishing in a 5.5 km circuit in Dabrowa G¢rnicza where is also located a intermediate sprint. At 224.3 km is located the GPM 3rd category.
Start?Rawa Mazowiecka is one of the oldest and currently most beautiful cities of Mazovia. Visiting Princess Ludmila, the good spirit of the medieval castle of the Princes of Mazovia, is a good reason to take a detour from the highway Warsaw – Katowice. The story of a suspicious Prince and a Princess sentenced to a cruel death without having committed any crime at all, reached the European royal courts. Shakespeare used this story for writing his ‘Winter Tales’.
Finish?Located in southern Poland, Dabrowa is the largest city in Slaskie Voivodeship as regards area (188 km2) and about 130,000 people.
