SRAM has issued a recall for wheels featuring the ZIPP 88v6, 88v7 or 88v8 aluminum front hub. As with the ZIPP 88 hub, the aluminum front hub flanges on the ZIPP 88v6, 88v7 or 88v8 could fail and could cause a crash.
There is no UPC code or serial number on the front hubs. However, the affected ZIPP 88v6, 88v7 and 88v8 aluminum front hubs are identifiable by the presence of a separable flange ring. The geometry of all 3 affected models is the same. The models were offered in a variety of colors, including black, silver, and falcon grey.
Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with the recalled front hubs and contact SRAM or a local bicycle dealer for a free replacement hub. Consumers are encouraged to visit their local SRAM and Zipp dealers or visit www.sram. com or www.zipp.com and click on the Recall Information link at the top of the page. In the United States consumers can contact SRAM at 1-800-346-2928 from 9am – 8pm (EST) Monday through Thursday and 9am – 6pm (EST) on Friday.
