PICK A SIZE – APPLEMAN ROAD CRANKS

Given that Matt Appleman has dedicated himself to building custom carbon fiber frames, he has seen firsthand what it takes to properly fit someone to the right size bike.  In the pursuit, the  Minnesota frame builder has taken it upon himself to start offering aluminum cranks in a range of optional sizes beyond the standard 170, 172.5 and 175mm cranks commonly found on production road bikes.

How many more sizes you ask? How about crank lengths  from 135mm to 175mm at 10mm increments.

THE APPLEMAN WAY

Press Release

Carbon frame builder Matt Appleman designed this beautiful crankset with user-friendliness and practicality in mind. Manufactured in the USA, this crank is Appleman’s unique and progressive vision of how componentry affects overall bike fit and rider comfort.

Bike fit is arguably the most essential aspect of a cycling experience that will keep people in the saddle. Matt Appleman noticed an industry-wide pitfall with the offered crank lengths supplied and recommended by the major manufacturers. The 2XR cranks were developed to provide solutions for those that struggle with fit issues on the bike or those looking to get more aero, more power, and more comfort from each pedal stroke.

The 2XR cranksets are offered in 10mm increments from 135mm to 175mm and are aimed to fine-tune a crucial contact point on the bike. Increasing or decreasing crank length by 10mm can have a significant effect on hip and knee deflection throughout the pedal stroke, moving the rider into a better position and providing comfortable repeatable engagement. Three different spider options make these cranks compatible with readily available chainrings. Designed around the tried and tested 30mm bottom bracket standard, this allows for an installation that is quick and easy, thanks to reasonable torque specs and a uniform spindle interface.
