Heading into this weekend’s SBT gravel race in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, former WorldTour rider Nathan Haas is ready to wow the crowd with a custom painted Colnago G3-X gravel bike made special for the event.
COLNAGO G3-X
Press Release
The ‘full circle’ conceived by Nathan Haas himself is about to come to a close. Five bikes with five different liveries to herald his return to the dirt tracks of the early days of his career – which were then followed by ten years on the tarmac in the service of UCI WorldTour teams – and to revitalize his motivation as a rider.
Riding his G3-X ‘Purple Rain’, Nathan will test himself on one of the most demanding races of the year: SBT GRVL race – 230km and 2800 meters of altitude gain. An epic, monumental ride, competing against some of the world’s best specialists in the discipline. For this new challenge Colnago will provide him with an absolutely unique bike, curated in every detail, both technically and aesthetically.
This is the specific model for gravel use. From the experience gained in the world of cyclocross, Colnago has developed a bike dedicated to the increasingly popular discipline. Compared to Prestige, one of the most successful frames in cyclocross history, designed to pedal as fast as possible for an hour on a technical off-road circuit, the G3-X overcomes the circuits’ barriers. For this reason it has an optimized geometry to accommodate wider tires, with steering angle and overall length designed to offer greater stability and comfort at high speeds. Up to four bottle cages can be fitted to the G3-X, along with luggage if needed, for longer rides. G3-X is offered in five sizes, all sloping.
Nathan Haas said: “For every bike I’ve been given (three so far), I’ve thought: ‘ok, it’s beautiful! It’s the top, it will be impossible to do better’. And then, boom! They bring me this Purple Rain and I’m speechless. It’s incredible how Colnago have managed to combine incredible aesthetic taste with superior technical performance. I’m happy as a child. These bikes are built with passion, they are made to win and they are beautiful. I am literally in love with them.”
Nathan’s riding kit, curated by designer Richard Pearce and developed in collaboration with Colnago and Castelli, totally matches this bike, forming an inspirational “total look”, a common thread for all the bikes in the ‘full circle’ project.
