Dries de Bondt won stage 18 of the Giro d’Italia out of the breakaway. It’s the biggest win of the 30-year-old Belgian’s career and the third for his Alpecin Fenix team at the Giro. Edoardo Affini and Magnus Cort rounded out the podium with his final breakaway companion Davide Gabburo in fourth. The sprinters missed out as peloton came charging 14 seconds behind. Second-place-overall Jai Hindley suffered a puncture in the final 3 kilometers but lost no time in the overall standings.
