NATHAN HAAS’ COLNAGO G3-X “DOPAMINE”

Not unlike the beautifully painted bike he rode at Unbound Gravel, Nathan Hass and Colnago have teamed up once again with an eyeful of a bike that the former WorldTour rider will use in a handful of upcoming gravel races. Nathan’s colorful, Campagnolo spec’d bikes are a welcome alternative to the staid, basic black livery used on the bikes ridden by Tadej Pogacar and his Tour de France teammates currently competing for yellow in the Tour de France.

The Australian rider gets a special livery bike for the gravel race in Iceland on July 23. The colors are bright and vibrant, a hymn to the sunshine, warmth and energy that Colnago and Nathan will bring to the cold, black volcanic terrain that welcomes the race.

Dopamine. That’s the name chosen for the third of five special liveries Colnago will supply to Nathan Haas this gravel season, five unique designs that money can’t buy.

Dopamine is also known as the ‘happiness hormone’. It is a substance that the human body releases, generating a sense of joy and fulfilment. Not only that, it helps us find the motivation and energy to be more active and continue doing the things that fulfil us.

It is dopamine that is responsible for the sense of pleasure and satisfaction that cyclists feel at the end of a ride. It is also dopamine that provides the body with the energy and desire to repeat the activity as soon as possible in the days to follow.

Thus was born the latest G3-X developed by Colnago for Nathan Haas: a hymn to the joy of cycling, the very engine that drives so many enthusiasts to the sport and pushes them to grind out kilometers and kilometers in all weathers and on all types of terrain.

Appropriately enough, from Campagnolo to Fizik to Deda, Nathan’s Colnago is outfitted with a variety of legacy Italian brands.

Nathan will use this Colnago on Saturday 23 July in The Rift Gravel Race. The Rift is a 200km gravel race in Iceland on the black lava stone roads around the island’s most active volcano, Hekla.

The G3-X Dopamine was designed to bring Colnago’s sunshine, colors and energy to the remote, rugged and cold landscapes of this part of Iceland.

Nathan’s clothing is by designer Richard Pierce who, in collaboration with Colnago and Castelli, has also created a special Dopamine kit for the occasion. A brightly colored uniform that echoes the livery of the bike.

THE COLNAGO G3-X

Nathan runs on a Campagnolo 1×13 Ekar drivetrain.

This is the specific model for gravel use. From the experience gained in the world of cyclocross, Colnago has developed a bike dedicated to the increasingly popular discipline. Compared to Prestige, one of the most successful frames in cyclocross history, designed to pedal as fast as possible for an hour on a technical off-road circuit, the G3-X overcomes the circuits’ barriers. For this reason it has an optimized geometry to accommodate wider tires, with steering angle and overall length designed to offer greater stability and comfort at high speeds. Up to four bottle cages can be fitted to the G3-X, along with luggage if needed, for longer rides. G3-X is offered in five sizes, all sloping.
