FLASHBACK FRIDAY, 2018: PARLEE CHEBACCO LE PROJECT BIKE

We build this Parlee up for our upcoming multi-surface events

With the emergence of multi-surface events popping up seemingly everywhere now the common question we ask our selves is what bike is correct for which event. With most of the events having a good portion of road and gravel/dirt surfaces we set out to build up a project bike that can handle all terrain.

We set our sights on the Parlee Chebacco LE as it’s built for gravel but has a SRAM E-Tap drivetrain which offers a good range of gears with a 2x system up front. We swapped the wheels out for a lower profile pair of Reynolds ATR that are tubeless compatible. For tires, our terrain which we will be riding is more hard packed and dry so a pair of Mavic Ksyrium Allroad 30mm offer a small tread pattern that can grip in the dirt, but still fast on the road.

Our Parlee turned into a project bike as we have events such as Belgian Waffle Ride approaching where it’s a mixture of hard packed dirt and road terrain.

 

The paint job on the Parlee is hand painted and one of the best frames we have seen in the RBA offices.

 

Sram Red E-Tap with a dual front compact chain ring will give us enough gears for the road, also we put Shimano road pedals on for more comfortability as we shouldn’t be having to get off our bike much.

The Parlee carbon cages are surpassingly very tight and hold your bottle well over the rough terrain. Normally we would use a plastic carbon cage.

 

The drops on the Parlee carbon bars have longer then normal drop outs to give your hands more room for comfort on the rough roads.

 

The Mavic Allroad tires offer up minimal tread which will allow us to not lose too much time on the road but still get a grip on the hard packed dirt roads. We have them set up with tubeless as well.

 

The Parlee has a good amount of room for tire clearance as it originally came with 40mm and there was still room to spare.

 

The Reynolds ATR wheels offer 40mm offer up a good depth for all around compliance from climbing and flats.

 

For a gravel purpose bike the Parlee is more on the aggressive side compared to some other endurance built gravel geometries.

 

Fender mounts are available on the front and rear of the Parlee which we won’t be using for our upcoming Southern California dry events.

 

With the Sram wireless E-Tap it gives the Parlee an even more beautiful clean look.

 

Flat mount disc brakes with 10mm discs. We also like that there is a DT Swiss lever to remove the axle and not an Allen key axle.

 

The top cap sits perfectly on top of the Parlee’s headset which gives the frame a beautiful touch.
