This is written before the l’Alpe d’Huez stage: This CSC team is putting into this Tour a performance of raw aggression unlike any I’ve ever seen.
Can you imagine being in the Tour, being one of the good riders able to hang with the Yellow Jersey group at one time or another in the race, and you look up the road and see a CSC rider drifting back towards you? Cancellara or Voigt? One of the guys who were placed in the early break to be out there waiting for you ?
And then that monster picks up your group and just starts that hammering? Like getting bludgeoned by Mike Tyson or something! Yesterday it was one CSC guy after the other after the other, all CSC riders trying to smash the field, kill off the TT guys.
But, CSC may come up short.Cadel Evans is tenacious to say the least, Vandevelde would still be right in there except for a mishap yesterday (could that give him a slight bit more wiggle room today?) and Menchov, as clumsy as he is, is still there too.
CSC has their last shot today, so be sure they’ll take full advantage. But, they could miss it too, despite their picture-perfect race so far.
